Due to high demand we are offering a second Kantha Quilting workshop on Nov. 16th with Artist in Resident, Tricia Royal.
11:30 AM through 2:00 PM
Workshop Type: Hand-sewing
Instructor: Tricia Royal
Experience Level: No experience required, age 12 to adult
Spots available: 20
Fee: $15.00 Members, $25.00 Non-members (Fee includes admission to the museum)
In this workshop, we will make a 12” x 12” hand-quilted (or less) miniature quilt inspired by the Kantha quilts of Bangladesh using raw-edge appliqué. Kantha is pronounced “KAHN-ta”, which means “rags” in Sanskrit. These collage-like quilts are fun and easy to make, and the process is meditative. Bring a handful of treasured fabric scraps (any fiber or content will work, but natural fibers like cotton, linen, and silk work well), but you are welcome to paw through Tricia’s scrap pile as well. Tricia will provide examples of finished mini-quilts for inspiration and will show you how to compose your mini-quilt, how to attach your scraps to your base fabric, as well as how to hand-quilt and finish your mini-quilt.
Event Registration is closed.
